About Restaurante Mulai

Restaurante Mulai is one of those places you love introducing to friends because it instantly feels easy, welcoming, and quietly confident in what it offers. Tucked into C. Pescadería Vieja, nº2, 11403 Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, Spain, this restaurant sits right where local life hums along, making it a natural stop whether you’re wandering the neighborhood or planning a relaxed meal on purpose. From the moment you step closer, the vibe leans casual but thoughtful, the kind of spot where conversations flow as smoothly as the drinks. Outdoor seating adds a laid-back charm on pleasant days, while the dine-in space keeps things comfortable and unpretentious, perfect for lingering a little longer than planned. If you’re on the move, takeaway is also an easy option, which makes Restaurante Mulai fit neatly into different kinds of days. What really ties the experience together is the drink selection, which feels curated without being showy. There’s alcohol for those evening plans, beer that pairs effortlessly with good company, cocktails mixed with care, and wine choices that invite slow sipping rather than rushing. Coffee is there too, rounding things out and making the place just as suitable for a daytime pause as it is for a night out. As I introduce Restaurante Mulai, I usually describe it as a restaurant that doesn’t try to impress loudly but does so naturally, through atmosphere, flexibility, and an easygoing rhythm that adapts to whoever walks through the door. It’s the kind of spot that works for casual catch-ups, spontaneous plans, or simply enjoying a well-made drink in a setting that feels comfortably part of Jerez rather than staged for it. Because the setting is relaxed and flexible, people tend to shape their own moments here, whether that’s chatting over cocktails, sharing beers, or taking a quiet coffee break between plans in the city. That everyday adaptability is exactly why I point it out when someone asks for a place that feels genuine, approachable, and effortlessly woven into the local rhythm.

A nice place to try so innovated cuisine. They introduced many asian element. All tasted very good. The did balance the flavor ver well. However, they really should consider adding a vegetable dish to their menu, either salad or wok of vegetable will be nice. Regarding the dessert, they should replace the chocolate with other things more typical. Avoid the chocolate at the dessert.

Delicious! Everything is amazing every time I come here. Fun chic decor, Bali vibes, amazing seafood. Totally recommend if you want to try something different in Jerez!

Ate here solo and was very well looked after. Started with an aperitif of the local vermouth, which is outstanding. Followed with the tempura prawns and the Asian infused mussels. I’ll be back!

My wife and I had a spectacular lunch at this restaurant, and not just because of it’s laid-back, inviting ambience. What inspired and innovative cuisine! We’ve enjoyed many restaurants in Jerez, but the surprisingly unique combination of flavors and textures of dishes served here really caught us deliciously off-guard. Each new course was a culinary adventure in good taste. To top off the experience, the staff gave us excellent recommendations and treated us with warmth and courtesy. We were lucky enough to enjoy this beautiful place when it was not especially crowded, which likely added to the charm. We only have two days left in Jerez, but we’ve decided to book another table for two tomorrow—something we rarely do…

The restaurant is located in a very narrow street, with lots of plants and flowers that make it cozy and fresh. Inside, the restaurant is made out of stone with really high ceilings and a bohemian decoration. The menu is not traditional at all, but it’s cooked in a simple way. They use fresh ingredients in all their dishes. We ordered a Russian salad which was vey especial, with red onion and a soft mayonnaise. We did also ordered croquetas de centollo that where soft and super tasty. As a main dish to share, we chose the tuna with caponata and it was amazingly tasty, well cooked and soft. As a dessert, you need to try the chocolate coulant with pistachio ice cream, one of the best desserts I’ve tried not heavy at all. Definitely a place to go if you visit Jerez!

We have travelled throughout Spain and eaten at some of the highest rated restaurants in every major city… but this hidden gem in Jerez is easily one of the best meals we’ve ever had. The service is flawless and the atmosphere is simply magical

One of the best locations in the heart of the historic centre. Idyllic atmosphere, exceptional Andalusian fusion cuisine and super friendly staff. Perfect for a romantic candlelit dinner or an evening with good friends.

We'd left it late and our first 2 choices for a Saturday night dinner were fully booked, so we opted for Mulai - & we were very glad we did! Ok, it's a bit more expensive than some of the bigger places locally - no names!- but the food was great, and interesting, and the location/ambience adds to the experience. Friendly staff, happy to cope with our very limited Spanish. Tables are both sides of a wide 'alley' (lovely flowers climbing the wall by our table) with a constant flow of strolling people making for great people watching.
